I just read this amazing short article by David French.
I've been thinking about enlisting off and on over the years but never really found the motivation to do it.
So here's the scoop
*I'm 28 (turn 29 in may)
*I have custody of my two kids (single parent)
*I have an amazing job and career in the IT industry that pays roughly 5k/month
*My college education is limited but around 40 hours (maybe higher)
*I'm open to reserves or active duty
*I'm physically fit
Here's what i know:
*I know i'm getting old
*I know i have to do a custody arrangement with my kids' mom before i can join
*I know i don't have enough college hours for OCS
What are my options? I don't really care WHAT i do in the armed forces but at the same time, i don't know that i can support my family going entry level enlisted (2k/month). I like the idea of reserves but that doesn't seem like i'd be getting enough out of it.
FYI my father was career military.
