Failed Medical
HI guys. I recently applied to join 4 PARA. I filled in some forms etc, and they called back last week, saying that my application was being processed. i received a call yesterday saying following a report from doctor my application was being deferred for a year, because of something obviously my doctor found. im absolutely gutted, is there any way I can appeal this decision or overturn it. im in the process of contacting my doctor to see what the the problem is.

Were you an asthma sufferer as child? Been to see the doc about a nasty cough that wouldn't go away or a wheeze? Or have you been prescribed medication for something like that in the last few years? It may be that you have a condition (such as asthma) which requires you to have had a number of years without suffering from the symptoms before acceptance to the next stage of entry in the forces. Last thing you want to be doing before going through all the training is develop a cough or a wheeze just before an operational drop (not that paras jump out of planes much these days)
But check with your doc.

ive never had astmaor anything like that. i did get in contact with my doctor and he reckons it was my knee, as i went to the doctor around 4 months ago compaining of a pain in my knee and was sent for an xray, around a week after the xray the pain was away and ive never had trouble since. could this really stop me joining for a year, or is there any appeal process i can take? thanks
