Hi all.
Have lurked on the forum for a while now, lots of useful information for people wishing to join.
I am looking to join the army as an administrator. I have filled out the application form and was going to send it off. I have a question which I cannot find the answer to on the army careers site or by searching through the forum.
I am potentially (50% chance) at risk of getting Huntington's disease later on in life. My father had it for around 15 years and passed away 4 years ago. My grandfather and great-grandfather were in the army and although they got it later on in life, nothing was mentioned (as far as my family knows) in their application.
My question is, will my potential risk of getting this disease later in life (I have not been tested and therefore have no idea if I have it or if I did, when symptoms would show) have a bearing on my army application?
Any information would be greatly appreciated as I have no motivation to continue my fitness training if it is all for nothing.
Thanks.
Matt

Joining with a potential hereditary disease
So you have a 50% chanceof not getting it too??
It wont matter to your application if you aint got it at the moment

Hi Newbie here
Have been looking at joining the Army but but have concerns about the Medical!
My problem is I have been dead for seven years and the worms have eaten through all my soft tissue, Does anyone think this may be a stumbling block for me joining? It doesnt affect my life normally, possibly because Im dead .
The other thing that worries me is how other may react to the smell of a corpse in the block for 12 weeks maybe I could wear a car air freshener around my neck.
Any advice.

Hi, my mate had the EXACT same problem when he started basic training...the air freshener works wonder he says, you'll have to sit down with the lads though and decide on what smell you wanna go for, hope that helps mateMSI64 wrote:Hi Newbie here
