medical forms - PLEASE HELP!!

Post by bex »

Hi,

I initially started applying end of july 2008 to join the army; I got up to the stage where I passed my medical but then decided to stay on for 6th form..So started applying again (in my last year in 6th form now) and sent off my medical 3 weeks ago and then phoned up the army careers office this morning to see what was going on, turns out I am deemed 'medically unfit' I was also told I would only be allowed to reapply may 2012, because whatever the reason was meant I would then be medically clear. I don't understand why though coz since the last medical forms nothing has changed, except last winter I got a tiny patch of ecsma which has all cleared up now and I'm not sure whether my doc put down last time I suffered from acne (only on my face) when I was 13-14 (I am 17 1/2 now). Also, my bmi is slightly underweight but I am fit and can do 100 situps in 2 minutes, the 1.5 mile run in between 11-13 minutes, so I don't know if my weight is an issue.

I am still waiting for my reason of deferral to come through the post and as there is a postal strike it's very frustrating! Also, if the corps you want to join has accepted you then would an appeal be stronger in this case and should you get them to help you appeal?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

you must be clear of Exzema for four years, and if your underweight they will defer you till your BMI comes up.

ok thanks,
I've just got the deferral letter through this morning and thats what it was, but its all gone now and i had it last time on the forms when i applied, so why has it changed? also, would it be likely that if i appealed that i would get through?
(and I find it really hard to put on weight! I eat loads but I'm just naturally thin)

join the paras my bmi was 31 and was to hight its now 26 and i got my 1.5mile run down from 14 mins to 9 mins,so i was really pissed off doing all the hard work to just get turned down by somthing as daft as exzema.
