Army Boxing

Post by wannabe-rifleman »

How do i go about getting involved in army boxing once i've passed out? Are there trials? I've boxed a lot before and i'm keen to get involved but i know my job will come first.

If you are any good you will get noticed. There used to be regular inter- company/Regiment competitions.

Don’t expect to do much boxing until you get to battalion mate.

From your signature i can see you're involved in Judo. I was just wondering, were you involved in Judo before you joined the army or is it something you have got into after joining?

I did Judo since I was about 9. Represented my battalion in both team and individual competition and then was picked for the Army team. Which goes on to compete against the Navy and Air Force.

I did also represent my battalion for boxing but was never as good. I boxed for 18 months before I joined at 17 just to get a bit of fitness/conditioning.

My experience was that men who are involved in sports before the Army have a good head start. A half decent boxer will be spotted and forced, well encouraged to box for he’s company, battalion etc.

In both teams depending on your superiors you should get plenty time to train.

Notice you are from Darlington, nice short journey home. I had to travel all the way to London.

Always been interested in judo and love watching it when the olympics are on but never had a go, couldn't fit anything else in to be honest as i've always trained in boxing or thai-boxing since i was about 13/14, along with playing football and rugby in my teens i was always doing some sport most days.

Suppose that's one good point about living in darlington, there aren't many others.
