Asthma help!??!
Asthma help!??!
Ok, all I want to do is join the army. I had asthma as a kid but it doesnt bother me anymore, and Ive read that it can be a problem with the army. Is this right? Im currently 16 and my parents wont sign any papers, so once im 18 im signing up if i can. What if anything can I do in the army if i have asthma or used to?
Any help would be great! Cheers lads

Anyway Jack - relax.....
I was born with asthma, in Gateshead in what used to be County Durham.
before the Second World War Gasometers, coal mining (real
coal then), shipbuilding, munitions, dirt, filth, damp, foggy Tyne .....
gas lighting and ovens, coal or coke fires for heating, outside heads -
Low, bad rations, no fruit ( in fact I remember two apples from Canada
during the entire war things like that stick out, sad )
I grew out of it, a bit, started running with a local Harriers Club when I
could. No pushing, just cross country and road runs. Finally was in good
shape - good enough at least.
At seventeen I enlisted and was passed medically with a scar on my lung
but no problems otherwise..... Green Beret before my eighteenth and off
to Commando abroad shortly afterwards.
I ran for the Corps and United Services - and the Navy when i had to.
You MAY just grow out of it. It all depends on what type of asthma you
have and how controllable it is. All it takes sometimes is a change of
scene.
University - I agree with Wholley there - then choose your own path.....
I believe that there are still girls in England too - now they might just cure
your asthma - holding your breath is a good exercise.....
Good luck with it.

Tell me Jack just how many times do you need to post the same story on these forums. Do you expect a different answer if you post it a few times on the same forum board
