training and intake

Post by ever1878 »

i'm applying for royal engineers and in the interview stage now before adsc.
my recruiter told me the engineers dont take in now untill april 2010 i was wondering if that could change at any time before april, if not i would still like to join soon as poss and there are a few jobs available over the next few months would it be ok to join eg. signals or paras and then try an change at some point in basic training?

As I have said before I would wait till next year for the place/job you want.

The chances of you Retrading within your first three years will be slim at best.
Get a part time job to tide you over till you get a placement.
But that is just my opinion which doesnt mean much, but its tempered with 16 years in the Army and a few years in Recruiting?? :D

Once you have been given your start date, all you need to do is keep fit and stay focused!

Army recruiting numbers across the board are nearly full for this year, so you may find your other choices are either full too or the waiting date is only a month before your date now.

As I said I would wait out for the job you really want.

110% effort , not joining cos you wanna leave home (mum and dad correction stuff ) , before you put yourself into it make sure you are ready for it instead of blocking other lads who are working hard to give their best ..... If you don't like the role, wait till your job choice is out

I find it hard to see how he could be blocking other lads as royal puts it.

Its simple, if he is not ready then when he fails that place isnt filled its just lost. Which means a guy who is fit misses out on a place!

Am sure the young man will be prepared?

I'm going for the REME. Passed selection in June and I've got my intake date for January. I was a bit gutted but it just gives you more time to train. Don't change your job choice just to get in sooner. Wait it out and get a job you're going to be happy with for the next 22 years, it's only a few months away.
