paras vs marines
hello just wanted to ask about the paras and the marines i have my interview and barp test at the end of the month for the army, been also thinking about joining the marines am not 100% sure what to do yet,so thought a would ask on here about the para and the marines about the pros and cons of each any help would be great.
You say that your not 100% sure about what you want to do yet mate. I know for a fact that if you want to join either then you need to want it 100% to get through it.
I'm sure though that once you have informal chats, interviews etc and you find out more information it will become clear which one (if any) you want to join.
Best of luck to ye though matey!

motivation, discipline, aggression, not to mention supreme physical fitness. These are qualities instilled from day one in both units so once you pass out you have that sense of belonging to an 'elite' membership, which was earned with blood, snot, sweat and tears - which not many people can lay claim to.

If i got a pound for every time ive heard this.. You need to be 100% and commited, if you dont no what you want to join, do some research. A lad in our platoon mentioned he wanted to join the Marines but went for paras because he failed his psychometric test, he was gone on day 2..
Personnaly i would go for Paras, i did my research on them both and made the right choice..

You mentioned they won't speak to you until after your court date, see if you get a fine of any amount in court, they won't speak to you for 5 years, its complete rubbish. I got fined for being drunk and having my car keys on me and was basically told to fack aff by the Navy, escorted off the premises wen they found out about it. Stupid thing was that they had brought me up for my initial RT, then called me out of the room and told me to bring my stuff. So got in touch with Army straight away, rules are waaaay different and as soon as they knew the fine was paid I was clear to join.
