hi, ive got my two day visit to Halton in july and just wondered if anyone could give me a further insight into what you actually do there?
i know you get you boots and do the bleep test but is there anything else i should be preparing for, also would it be a good idea to get my hair cut before i go?

Two day visit to Halton
PRTC
hiya mate, I went to PRTC about 2 months ago and it basically goes like this:
DAY 1:
You arrive at Halton at about 10am and given a presentation by the sergeant about what your 2 days will entail. You and the other recruits will be issued with ill fitting green boiler suits that you will wear for the most part of your stay. After a quick packed lunch you are shown to your blocks and escorted to the regiment hangar. Here your shown a quick video of life in the armed forces and given a tour of the gas chamber and the rifle range.
You then go for dinner which turned out to be a lot better than i imagined it to be, you get about 5 different choices and its all you can eat so pile it on!
After a quick briefing following dinner you get a couple of hours to get showered and get to know the lads in your dorm a bit better. Then its off to the newcomers club for a night of no alcohol and plenty of socialising with the staff and recruits.
DAY 2
Day of the fitness test, we all woke up at around 5am to get showered and shaved, (I had a fairly pleasant nights kip on the dorm beds) then it was off to breakfast and i would advise filling up on carbs an not too many sausages as your going to be made to sweat by the PTi's a few hours after!
You then go off to get ready for your fitness test and marched down to the gym. Make sure whilst in the gym to NEVER put your hands on your hips and always keep moving if instructed to or your gonna get nailed! Here your given a presentation on fitness and ways to improve and then you start the test which comprises of a bleep test and press up/sit up test. You only have to get the minimum score on this and its not pass or fail but regardless give your maximum effort.
After a shower and change of clothes your given briefing by the welfare officers and the nurse and then you have completed your 2 day stay at Halton.
TIPS:
Overall you will certainly have a good time whilst at PRTC and get to meet loads of people who are going to be in your intake. The best thing to do while your there is listen to the staff's every word and do what your told when your told and you wont encounter any problems. In regards to getting your hair cut, I personally did but you don't have to, IMO it reflects better if you look the part. Oh and your also issued with your boots but you already knew that!
Hope that's helped in some way!

hey, i done my PRTC last thursday. and with the diary what paigey put, it is pretty much 100% spot on. one thing i will stress. is too put all effort into the fitness test. even though it isnt a 'pass or fail fitness test' put in as much as you can. because there were some unfit lads and lasses and the PTI'S did stress the fact that there are some lads which get picked to go onto the Pre-conditioning course. dont shout your mouth about or piss about while around the base. as 2 lads got booted for giving mouth to the sgt and a high ranking female officer. other then that nothing to worry about. drink loads(i didnt, ended up with a massive headache), eat loads, and have fun.

the pre con course is compulsary for females becuase they gian alot of injurys during training due to how intense the phys is. so they start 2 weeks before the lads and do phys twice a day everyday for the next 2 weeks. but as they told us on prtc the lads go on there aswell if they dont get the required standard on the fitness tests. (below level 7 on the bleep test)
so overall making girls RTS 11 weeks and blokes 9 weeks.
hope this helps
