Daggers wrote:Hey yeah i asked my careers officer the same question if i go in as para into afc harrogate will i have to do the 9:18 time to get in.

The awnser is no all people going into harrogate have to beat 14:00 minutes no matter what regiment you join as.

Thanks
Sorry mate thats WRONG as ive just asked online at army careers website and you still have to get the run time at ADSC then you go onward to AFC.

So best get training a bit more

Sorry mate thay are telling you wrong lol because people who go to harrogate are classed as juniors therefore only need to do 14 mins becuase afc builds them up.

I am telling the truth :)

Check this link for ADSC times.

www welbeck. mod.uk / Fitness /Website /run.htm (I've put spaces in because I was not allowed to place links in my first post)

It states that Harrogate is 14.30 for the 1.5 run

Hi guys been a couple of months since my last post on this thread just wanted to keep you updated.

Ive been training with running and walking, i leave school on 12 of june and i am waiting for my medical papers to be cleared by the selection centre, my carrers officer said this can take up to 3 weeks.

I have researched all i wanted to know but theres just a couple of more questions i wanted to know...

When i join harrogate will i be given the maroon beret through training or at the end.....i dont expect it because i know you have to earn it i only asked because other regiments like the rifles...you get given one.

is 30miles walking on the sailsbury plains good in 8 hours because i just wondered if this is normal army training or i done something very good?

Any awnsers appreciated!

I found out a few things today and thought I would post them here:
First off the places in the AFC Sept 09 PARA course is full. That doesn't mean people won't drop out or anything but apparently it's full.
Also to clear things up apparently anyone going for Junior PARA will still have to do PRAC, but it is a seperate PRAC course for Juniors (same tasks etc, just it's with other Juniors)

PRAC (Parachute Regiment Assessment Course) is a 3 day course for PARA applicants that was re-introduced in April to get rid of time-wasters. There's a topic on it somewhere here.
The senior recruiter at my ACIO told me that Junior applicants would have to do it too but if you ahven't done it and have got I place in AFC (PARA) then I'm not sure :-?

I was a bit disapointed when I heard it but I guess it's more time to get fit.
Have you done your PRAC yet?
