Re: Breaking in boots
Pretty much what you said mate. Stand in a hot bath, walk around the house as much as possible, then walk in them, run in them etc. Put lots of polish on them too, it softens the lather, and it gets you used to doing it for basic training!baileycivvy wrote:Hope nobody bites my head off on this one...

When I got my standard issue boots for PGAC I just wore them every other day, now I find them really comfortable and found it easier to run in when doing PGAC than other lads who had just got some at Barnham.

As said above, wear, polish, repeat...
My tip is to work the polish in really well, after brushing it on properly use a duster to work it in a bit before buffing.
(Not as much as you would for bulling parade boots of course.)
This also makes them come up quite shiny.

as for putting them in water ive been told not too....as the cardboard in the boots gets brittle. and ruins them easily.
i have my boots, just need to start polishing and wearing them in.

My brother was told not to stand in the bath, not given a reason why though.
I do know I wear combat boots everyday for work and swear by polishing them, dubbin and wearing them. All the boots I have had have a layer of a hard cardboard type material underneath the insole, make sure this doesn't get wet or this will deteriorate and make wearing the bot very uncomfortable indeed!
Good luck mate
