Arundel park is a good place for west sussex running, nice big hill. One lap is about 5 miles, there is a 10k route if you incorporate a little dogleg, google it.

I'm also a Shoreham based trainer, my latest college course finishes in around 4 weeks then I a going to go into training a lot more as I will have way more time. I am looking to join RLC and I currently run at around 11 mins mile and a half.

best tip for getting your mile and a half down...

Mark a route 1.2 km and turn back on yourself. Run the first 'half' at the speed you want so... 5 mins 15 sec for example, then take a short rest and try and repeat on the way back. Then reduce the rest time, keep the first half the same pace and practice until you need no rest.

I find running 1.5 miles as a best effort every other day works pretty well. Finishing with a sprint and then continue jogging back home which i find helps the recovery time.

To be completly honest, 1.5 miles is not hard. Just sprint the whole thing. I know im saying it a bit harsh however this is what i did after all the fannying about. 2 weeks in im running 1.5 miles in 9:30 after a 1.5 mile warm up aswell.
