Why is it that the British Army uniform, as shown in todays photos from Basra, is so scruffy and crap? Looks like the MOD are using the same supplier that Primark does. How come other Nato countries have half decent kit and we have to put up with the same scruffy rubbish. Some things never change!!!
personally i think it looks fine. cant comment on the photos you are refering to though. Its practical kit that goes through a lot of abuse. it will look faded and scruffy at some point. its a reflection on our troops that they are hard working rather than looking all pristine and clean. I so hope the nam style head band comes back in style though

The thing I like about the British uniform and dress is that its unique to us. No other Army looks like us. Our Combats, Berets, Helmets, Webbing, Rifles are unique and you can tell a British Squaddie a mile off. Unlike many European Armys and the Yanks who all look the same with the same tight fitting combats and similar shaped Helmets.
Also we tend to bastardise our kit alot, everyone looks unique with there own stile. Often buying there own Smocks and boots.
If it was up to me they will bring back the Pith Helmet. Now how British looking was that.
