Inverted chevrons for good conduct.

Post by Fusilier »

Question

I was talking to a friend at work last week, ex 3 Para/Signals. Anyway I asked him if he remembered the issue of inverted chevrons on the bottom of your sleeve for good conduct as I had found one in my old badges. He could not remember.

Was this an individual Regiment thing that is now done away with?

Jack

Defo had it on my No 2s. I remember doing security, first aid, selling programs for Trooping The Colour one year and had a picture with an old girlfriend wearing them.

May have been a Regiment thing?

Anyone?

Still issued in the Corps mate, there was a time when a '3 Badge Marine' was one of if not the most respected bloke in any troop/company. Not so common any more - one of the old and bold will know, but were they not only issued for time in rank? As in, once promoted you lost them. Can't remember to be honest. Certainly don't see many around any more.

Again old and bold will correct, but I believe they were only worn on Blues and Lovats. And of course it's probably completely different in the Army and this post is largely irrelevant

GCB was granted after each period of four years good conduct ie undetected crime. In my day, thee old pence per day went with chevron,a useful sum at that time.No idea what the present day conditions are.Worn on all dress except denims and K.D. type clothing.
