Joining from overseas(South Africa)
Joining from overseas(South Africa)
Hi, im thinking of joining the british army at the end of this year when i finish my last year of school(Gr12). I have a few questions about getting my NI number and if i have to register with the NHS? i will be coming over on the 6 month visitors visa. So how long would it possible take to get my number and if i might have any problems getting one. cheers
Its better if you find someone more official to discuss this with, try talking to an online recruiter here:

If you join the British army you will be classed as a mercenary in South Africa, you can be arrested and jailed if you return to South Africa.

NI number will be issued six weeks before you go to Phase One training, you may not get a NHS number but you dont need one to join.
The whole process takes between 3-6 months depending on what trade you choose.
It takes about three to six months. If you haven't resided in Britain for five five years your opportunities to enlist would be limited o combat arms (Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery) and some trades in Royal Logistics Corps. The fastest way to join is Infantry. PM me if you have specific questions
BARB Test: 60

Medical: Cleared
ADSC: 05/03/09 deferred
