Generally i think you are just asked question about your knowledge of the role you are wanting to go into, or thats what i was asked about anyways. You get told at the presentation after the aptitude tests what you should be looking at for your interview, like the history of the RAF etc. It could vary from interview to interview what each candidate is asked, so best to just take in as much as possible so as not to be caught out id say. Better to be well prepared than not to be.

I've decided to find as much info on the web as possibble and print it all off and make a file divided up into catagories, e.g. weapons, history, training, etc. Sounds a bit geeky i know but I figure it will be usefull to keep referring to and reading through then the info should sink in in time for when i need to recall it in interviews, PGAC or TG.

a commendable effort, but probably a bit over the top. For example I was just asked what the sqn's were called, where they were based and whether they were a field or rapier (as they used to have) sqn. I was also asked where they were deployed at that time.
good luck.

3 Squadron are at RAF Wittering now mate. Subjects my interveiw covered where:
- Name some squadrons and where they are based.
- How long training is and what the training invoves.
- What my feelings are about drugs and people who take drugs.
- What does NATO stand for.
- Family, work, social life and education.
- What if any clubs i was a member of in or out of school.
- And the one that threw me off a bit was how do you feel about war, trying to explain its neccesary without sounding like a blood thirsty muppet wasnt easy! lol

Think thats most of what was covered mate, dont stress yaself out with it just be confident and you'll be fine.

when i went for my AMM interview they asked me how i thought about shooting someone, so i just said:

im not joining the raf thinking i wont ever have to kill anyone but im also hoping that ill never be put in that position but if i was then id do what i had to do.

they also asked how id feel about shooting a child as some people do use children and i said the same again, im not joining thinking it wont happen but i hope im never put in that position and if it happens to me ill take the action i need to.

How is it decided which squadron you go to?
Is it like in RM, where near the end of training you complete a request for 3 units in order of preference,
or are you just divided up and sent to one of them?

Agreed, that and the one on killing people. How to strike the fine balance between psycho and pacifist!
I didn't get anything on killing children though!

About stationing to squadrons, I think it's something similar where you can express preferences, but they obviously don't make any guarantees you'll get to go where you want.

yeah i got asked about shooting someone it was hard trying to say it with out sounding like a murderer lol i just said if it was there its my life or theres and i would have to do what im trained to do also i used the raf regiment moto (attack is the best form of defence) lol.

and with squadrons i think you get a dream sheet witch you can pick 3 witch you would like to go in to and 3 you didnt realy want to.
I wouldnt mind 51 squadron 1 or II squadron but to i need to be fit as fu*k lol.

A mate of mine got posted straight to II Squadron last year after his TG course, I don't think he expressed any preference either way. He's not done pre-para yet though.

I want either II for the obvious reason, 3 for the location, or 34 because although it's miles from the Mrs I'd be getting back to my Yorkshire roots! 8)
