Post by Brummielad »

Basically im considering joining the RAF REG or as a PTI.

My question is, is the eyesight standards different for different branches in the RAF?

Say if i fail my eyesight for raf reg would i be able to try for pti?

i dont know the exact requirements but i do know for RAF REG the right eye has to be to a certain standard as obviously this is the eye that you will use to aim your weapon as you will be in the infantry. Common sense and perhaps an element of guesswork tells me that as a PTI or other non infantry trades I would imagine the eyesight requirements would not be as 'specific'. Put it this way I got in and my right eye is very poor. They flag you up on it and give you another go once you get some glasses or contact lenses.
