infantry, higher pay band?

Post by Englishman88 »

I have heard a rumour that all infantry are on higher pay band, is this true?

If not, what jobs within the infantry are on the higher pay band?

Not true, at least not in the Corps and I'm fairly certain the Army. Within the Corps only technical trades get you on the higher pay band at Mne level - things like armourers, vehicle mechanics etc. I don't know how that translates across to the Army, but with JPA now things are meant to be more or less equal across the board (they're not always, but they're meant to be  ). As an infantryman I believe your choice of spec is more limited, and therefore our 'technical specialisations' may not have an equivalent in an Army infantry regiment.

Re-reading that it doesn't help you much at all...sorry

Ok cool and does that go for all specialisations?

And does that include when you first join your regiment?

And MSI is a pretty good authority on Army careers mate  I'm Royal, so only know what I pick up about the Army from those I work with on occasion - as I said, apologies for the misleading post.

Some jobs swap Bands as you go up the ladder

ie You may go lower band as Sgt/SSgt because you are seen as not doing your Technical job if your an Admin Sgt and then go back to Higher band as a WO2

Only once you reach lance jack and higher does your pay become higher band. Otherwise like me, you take home £820 a month....wooooh!
