Basically, the grandparents of a 20yr old Marine who lost both legs in Afghanistan applied for permission to build a specially adapted bungalow for him on their land. The local council refused permission [by a 6:5 vote] on the grounds the 'case wasn't exceptional enough'.
I've emailed the leader of the council [Ms Pam Doodes] on AskTheLeader@Wealden.gov.uk expressing my disgust and asking her to do what she can to get the decision reversed. I emphasized that the issue is attracting national [not just local] interest and condemnation.
It might help if as many people as possible contact her/the council with the same objections. It might be especially effective if the younger members who have just joined, or are thinking of joining, add their protests, too. It will only take a couple of councillors to change their vote to get it passed.
It would be as well to check out the contact although I'm as sure as I can be that it's the right one.
