I bet if you passed P Coy you would get your wings tattood on you, wouldnt you?

Like liam said, if you join, why not be a lion instead of a lamb? Why dont you go through the demanding RM recruitment then be a engineer?

SAS, SBS, Para Regt and Royal Marines and other SF are the Elite within the Britih Forces. You would never hear 5 scots, guards or blackwatch in that converstation (for example) I heard the Gurkhas are nasty little buggers but dont no too much about them.

If you google Parachute Regiment, i gaurantee most of the articles will say the Paras are elite.

My uncle saw you're post Partymarty and laughed... HARD, he said in a not to nice manor, 'if you think you earned the right to get the wings tattooed on you just because you passed P Coy, leave now.. every one who's done a tour or two will think you're a dick'

Same would apply for any part of the army thou wouldn't it?

Well my dad hasnt got his wings tattood on him, and doesnt want them tattood on him. But obviously you will get stick if you get your wings straight out of Depot and if you havent been on any tours.

But once you have passed P Coy and your jumps course, you are part of a elite regiment. I Never mention anything about getting your wings straight out of depot did i?

People get there wings because they are proud people, my dad chose not to get his wings.

Its got nothing to do with getting girls? do you honestly think people join Para Regt just get tattoo's to try and get a couple of birds? Good one mate, i would have a re-think on that one.

You get tattood because you are proud of what you represent. Do you seriously think they get tattoo'd to get birds and tell people there hard as nails?

Party- you said REME is not elite? even though i never said they where. but if that's the way you want it:
no weapons, munitions, land vehicles, tracked vehicles, support vehicles or Apache's for you, (and a range of other things)

:] good luck.

also i have a few friends in the para's and unlike you who isn't actually in yet... they do not classify themselves as elite? starting to think your quite childish

I think what you said is the point i was trying to make, is that the few people that fit the stereo-type and do it to think they're hard, get girls and maybe intimidate others on nights out.

And to answer the question about going straight into RM, i'm too old now by 1 year or else i would. but i agree with jstagg go into a 'normal' regiment then specialise, which is my intention, i'd still get to wear the lid as you green or maroon, depending on route i follow.

a lot of truth is said in jest, i'm sure this topic his hitting on a few nerves, but i'm sure if it was all bull then it should't bother you and you should take it in the nature that it was intended. banter  :drinking:
