Any Catterick Recruits/Instructors here?

Post by adamb »

My girlfriends parents are planning a holiday mid august time. My 28 weeks training (providing everything goes ok) finishes on 23rd august.

I start 8th Febuary, 28 weeks later is 23rd august, will my passing out parade be on the last day of the 28 weeks (the 23rd august) or does it differ? I know its planning ahead a bit but I kinda need to know to let me girlfriend know if its OK for her to go or not because she doesnt want to miss my pas out parade.

Cheers.

I'd suggest speaking to your contact at the AFCO.
It sounds like you're trying to cut things a bit fine there,
you just cannot tell what's going to happen in the next 28 weeks!

[edit]: ...and good luck with your training! Hope it goes well. 8)

As far as I am aware you get 2 weeks off at Easter and 4 weeks off in the Summer (usually most of August).

28 weeks training from 8th Feb would take you to the end of September I think. I doubt a holiday in August would be a problem, but AFCO is best place to check - they might be able to put you in touch with someone at your training centre that can give you exact term dates.

I didnt realise you get so much time off during ITC, does everybody get a holiday at easter?

I got told Ill be starting 8th febuary, first time ill see anyone again is parents evening wich is 4 weeks into training( 6 for me because i got the catch up course ) and if i pass parade test get that weekend off. After week 6 every weekend is yours and you get 2 weeks off during middle of training. This correct info or only slightly?

Thanks again MrC.

Surely all that time off is for when you've actually passed training and are in your battalion?
