Post by Niknak »

Having served 2 years in the British Army, I am now very interested in becoming a PTI in the RAF. I have worked as a civilian Personal Trainer, Youth worker, Lifeguard (Beach and Pool) and now in the role of Health and Fitness Manager in Central London.

All I would like to know is the times/amounts needed for PTI. I have been told numerous different times etc.

Also have to ask, is it the same pass mark for males and females? I would hope so!

The best bet would be to call your local AFCO and ask them, as they'll have the most up to date info on hand. These things do seem to change sometimes so that'll explain the mixed answers you've got. The RAF careers site is usually quite good for informations too, although I notice sometimes various bits are out of date of contradict others.

Don't know about for PTIs but most trades have a different fitness standard for males and females, and also different age groups.
AST - PASSED
Interview - 13/01/09 - PASSED
Medical - 20/01/09 - PASSED
PGAC - 13/04/09 - CANCELLED
PGAC - 27/04/09 - FAIL DUE TO INJURY
PGAC Re-Attempt - 14/09/09 - ?
TG Course - ???

Hello
If you have a look at my 3 day PTI vetting diary from November that will show you what to expect. The standards are different for male and female.

they are not completely set in stone they are looking for all rounders- but for a female, i think they are roughly

under 10 mins for 1.5 mile track run
over 30 press ups
over 40-45 sit ups
over level 10 on the bleep test
