Sneaky has valid concerns:
Come on you founder members. I will not embarrass you by naming names but come out and say what you think about the current site and the threads it produces.
There have been some very good points made in this thread, however saying what you think is likely to draw a disproportionate amount of flak.

Druadan points out:
the mods come in for a lot of abuse, of course they're gonna stick together when attacked
Surely Mods should moderate and robustly enforce the ToA with parity, not stick together.

Some members have encouraged others to "play nicely" and yet use terms such as "tosser" to refer to other members. Whilst I agree with the sentiment of the statement below, the contradiction in it obviously eludes the author:
That's entirely the point of this forum.
To help young people who have a desire to join the military on their way to a fulfilling career in the armed services.
Apart from the odd tosser I think most members here try to help each other whichever service they are looking at.
As"The Old and Bold"It is surely our job to encourage, not denigrate at the first opportunity.
So whilst I share some of Sneaky's concerns, in my opinion it is some people's attitude that needs to change. We all have a shared responsibility to treat others with some respect and courtesy. It can't be a law for some and not others.

eg.
We are not no-marks who you happen to meet at a bus stop.
Surely the point is that we are all the no marks that could be at a bus stop. Why should our perception of what is deemed to be a 'credible' person reflect the way some people are treated.

Yours

This topic has strayed some what lol

Every on can agree to something in some ones post some where along the line, for me the Rule for users/Members and the rule for Mods/Admins is an issue, I intend to use the forum to full effect for as long as i have time to write in it.. But some people I've contacted haven't left or stopped using the forum because off the Internet tough members 3/5 said they don't like how Users/Members can be branded 'w@#k of the week' but when Users/Members decide to stand up against what's been said to them even the slightest they are shut down with a force..

It's a tad One way..

My personal view on the w@#k of the week is.. it's childish, to have a place to brand people with every name under the sun ''behind their back'' (in a way), That's play ground stuff, if a Admin/Mod has an issue, P.M them and resolve it.. dare say when I've screwed up before I made an apologize but when a Mod/Admin has nothing happens.. (Retaliate to this post of people feel the need to, I'm not going to argue back.

Look you two.
It's real simple, this is not a democracy so if you don't like the way it's moderated don't read or post here.

Wally,

I didn't realise this was a dictatorship. I'll post what I like where I like.

The funny thing is that Sneaky started this thread and voiced his concerns about the situation on these Forums. He asked others to comment.:
Come on you founder members. I will not embarrass you by naming names but come out and say what you think about the current site and the threads it produces.
Sneaky,
See what I mean? Some of us are not allowed to voice an opinion because it upsets the guards!

Others can call people "tossers" and such without comment or re-course.
It does make me giggle, but then I've always found hypocrites, liars and bullies somewhat amusing.

Mate you are right but a lot of it is military humour which is not uncommon in many other environments where you get a concentration of men.

The latest thing at work and remember I work for one of the largest American oil companies is to draw cocks on everything. Including our £150 work coats.

You will find your locker siliconed shut, stink bombs, phone calls with raspberries or impersonations of managers. Sometimes the managers have to demand the radios are kept clear because of all the silly crap you download to your phone is being played on them. Some nights I can not sleep because of the sh**. :)

My old work partner was having a little sleep in the office chair and wakes up to find that he's rigger boots are covered in pictures of cocks. I saw another mate walk past me the other day and i asked why he had a large piece of silver tape over the back of he’s new coat. ? ? ? Because a joker had drawn a lovely cock with cum. :o :) :)

The thing is to never BITE mate.

Back to subject I'm all for order, But allot of people can see that it's not 'Idiot posters' that ruin a forum like this, or posters who want to provoke fights it can be the way those situations are dealt with as I've said in other post's it can be regular users ect who post the most stupidest of thisngs to get a reaction from the poster at hand.. all it takes is to close the topic or delete the silly comment..not to say

''You coming out to play again tomorrow?''

It needs to be stopped i'd say

No.
I'll continue as I wish.
No name calling. Read the statement carefully.
If you are not a bully, a liar or a hypocrite you have no cause for concern.

Things will not change mate. I belong to a fair few forums and this site is yes a little above the norm but people are going to join the forces at the end of the day.

If they can not take a little wind-up or piss take then man they are in for a rough ride with their section commander etc.

The thing is you get some users who have not started training yet giving it the Bill big balls and it is a red flags to veterans.

Wally,

Yes I will.
All you do is spread alarm and despondency among the troops.
All I do is spread alarm and despondency amongst bullies, liars and hypocrites, and will continue to do so.

Would you like me to forward all the PMs that I have received recently from people who are despondent with the standard of moderation on this site. Or should I publish them on a thread in the forums.

You and some others here try to bully members and try to prevent open robust discussion (one of the things that Sneaky trys to promote in this thread). I was recently accused of being the cause of decline in membership! The fact is that anyone who disagrees with one of 'the pack' is jumped on. Members (old and new) leave because of the nonsense and disparity that is laughingly referred to as moderation.

You are a disgrace.

Go ahead.
I'm sure they will be the same as the imaginary ones you said you were getting from Ria.
Take your time.
I see you can't stop with the name calling.

Okay, now degenerating into a more or less pointless argument.

Some may have noticed I've agreed to moderate on here. I've never met any of the other moderators, nor spoken to them on the phone, and with the exception of Artist haven't even had any sort of meaningful PM contact. Therefore I'd like you all to assume I'm not part of "the pack" - whether a real or fictional notion - until shown otherwise.

As I've previously said I don't agree with all of the moderators decisions, and I'm sure some of the other mods have similar feelings on occasion, but must support whatever stance is taken for obvious reasons, unless to do so is completely unreasonable. If you have a real concern about a particular mod/incident, please feel free to PM me and share your concerns. That's not to say I will agree with you, or will 'moderate the moderators', but perhaps I can speak with the concerned party on a more level footing, as a major concern seems to be the 'abuse of power'.

Please note that I am busy, and responses may take a few days. Please also make this a case of 'from now on' - I don't want to be sifting through threads from last year. Please include links to the relevant posts. And finally, unless you say specifically otherwise, I reserve the right to share all or part of your PM with the other mods if I think there may be a problem that needs addressing to them. This may be done anonymously at your request unless it is obviously pertaining specifically to you.

I'll post this in the General bit as well. If we all chill out things can get back to normal. In the meantime, whilst I realise certain members do not like certain other members/mods, please refrain from outright slanging matches - they are pointless - and take any insult (real or imagined) with a pinch of salt - this is the internet, and your are in/have left/are joining the Forces.

Druadan,
Thanks for your comments.

I will send you edited (some have voiced concern about being 'outed') versions of the PMs I have received from other members if you like. But I warn you it will take some time to read as there are quite a few!

You can also have the PMs I have received from Mods threatening to bin me, accusing me of being the mole and denying I was ever in the frame for being the mole!

Sneaky started this thread by voicing his concern over the decline of the forum and invited discussion. You seconded his post, and I fully endorse his and your comments.
Can I call on all members who are lying low, but still logging on to see the latest bit of crap to come out of the ether and start making some comments, caustic or not and let us get this Forum back what it used to be.
However on this thread alone I have been:

Accused of being a liar.
Accused of name calling.
Accused of spreading alarm and despondency.
Accused of posting 'shite'
Invited to 'sling my hook'.

There's not much encouragement for open, honest or even 'caustic' comments there then.

I do but even chaps in the army no matter what experience and rank will label some one w@#k of the week and mean it, I've got family in all sorts of REg's and even they think it's childish lol.
