What are the paras up to these days?

Post by paraprep1 »

hey everyone,

iv noticed this forum has been a bit dead over the last month or so, so i thought id ask what the parachute battalions are doing at the moment ie: where they are posted currently and is anything exciting happening! i just thought it would be nice to keep everyone, including myself, up to date with the maroon machine :D!

Also a little off topic, but iv got adsc on january 14th in pirbright and i just developed something pretty painful shin splints so i cant train efficiently, certainly no running for the next week; is there any helpful info that might help me get to my best for selection just over 3 weeks away with this condition hung over me? :D

2 & 3 PARA came back from Afghanistan at the end of October, so I imagine they're having (or have just had!) some well deserved R&R :D No doubt they also had some 4 PARA guys with them who were mobilised.

1 PARA are the core of the Special Forces Support Group (SFSG). Who knows where they've been recently! 8)

I was rather hoping someone would start a new thread due to how quiet this particular forum is becoming!! Best thing for your shin splints is to continue training through non-impact cardiovascular work. Swimming, cycling, etc, best you can do really without causing further harm. Best of luck in January mate.

Anyone seen the latest Pegasus magazine?

Some great write ups in detail of what each subunit within the 3 Para Battalions has been up to in the last 7 or 8 months.

i take it that when theres nothing important going on in a battalion they get posted to their home base? which is colchester maybe? also how much time of the year do battalions spend away out of britain on an average year?
