Bear in mind that it was 4 years ago when I went through...
Have a look at the thread on the ADSC kit list, on the Army forum, a lot of stuff is the same.
Things I remember buying to take with me were:
Sleeve ironing board (Cheap from Tesco, Wilkinson etc, REALLY useful for doing your long sleeved shirts! Can take a full-sized ironing board as well if you like, there are never enough to go round...)
Decent steam iron (ceramic soleplate is best)
1" and 1/2" stencils (for labelling your kit)
Name tape (Ditto. Write your name and last 3 on it when you get there in permanent black marker and block capitals)
Sewing kit - black, white and dark green thread, needles, small scissors, couple of safety pins.
soap dish and soap (goes in your locker during inspections, make sure it's clean, but it looks like you've used it...)
Rubber gloves, dusters, Brasso, glass cleaning cloth
Stamps, paper, envelopes for writing letters home
4 identical padlocks with keys (always remember to lock your locker every time you leave the block, or you'll get a visit from the locker fairy...)
Will add more if I remember it, but you've got a huge amount of time before you have to start worrying about it!

You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

Brett, if you have Facebook check out the RAF Regiment Recruitment group. Somebody has posted a copy of the TG kit list, I imagine a lot of it will be the same as Halton. I think there's also a vid on Youtube where a guy has catalogued his Halton kit before packing.
