Very worried

Post by sneaky beaky »

Hello you guys who regularily read this Forum.

I think it is dying.
Beast is doing a sterling job in trying to keep it going but he is inundated by Walters and Wannabees.

Can I call on all members who are lying low, but still logging on to see the latest bit of crap to come out of the ether and start making some comments, caustic or not and let us get this Forum back what it used to be.

Come on you founder members. I will not embarrass you by naming names but come out and say what you think about the current site and the threads it produces. And let us try to restore it to it's former glory and influence!!

Yours,

A very sad Sneaky (and yes, I am just as bad as all the others!!!)

Seconded, as little as two years ago it used to take up an hour or so of my evening to read through some entertaining drivel, now I'm lucky to put up with most of the crap that gets posted for longer than five minutes. Where did all the old and bold go? I'm quite enjoying having Whitey back on the other side, even if he does seem to talk more nonsense now, at least it's reasoned entertaining nonsense

PS. sneaky, right forum??!!

I agree, there's not a lot of serving members on here. But instead a lot of walts etc.

Lots of mods don't even post anymore.

Appart from my odd fu*k up I'd say its not all that bad, a few handy post's and as i know (and yeah i know) a few crap ones.. it's not the count of users its the users who post whether it's a idiots view (mine usually) or some one fantastics view.

Dare i say walts wouldn't use the forum because... (and I'm not sure if i am 100% correct) BUT aren't walts people who want to be soldiers and fake being a soldiers when they aren't and have the usual 9-5 job? so i dare say they would have the sense to not come to a forum, as for idiots well yeah there's a few (£50 to whom ever states the obvious.) lol :D

I agree whole-heartedly with you about trying to save a part of the forum.

However, if i had a serious question about UKSF this is the last place i would come to ask. At the very least if there was someone with some worthwhile info on here i may give them a PM, but dont you agree its a risk to your own security if you start making gestures to the fact that you are thinking about doing SF selection? :-?

Finally! Some sense! Why would a switched on, serious potential SF soldier come to this council estate of a forum for advice?

In the same way, why would an incredibly experienced SF soldier spend his time with walter mittys and teenage SF wannabes? Short answer - they wouldn't.

I think the main problem has already been mentioned. Personally, whilst I'm very interested in SF, from what replies I've seen to questions I've thought about myself, I would not dare post. Mainly for fear of being seen as a SF wannabe, or as a walt. So, there aren't really that many questions that can be asked without the topic author being placed into one of those categories.

Ah, see, I thought he meant the forum generally

In a way it is good that this forum exists, as some of the common myths about SF can be dispelled, after all there is a lot of knowledge in the public domain that just isn't really shouted about cos, well, it's a bit boring. The legends are better. Those serving or with a serious interest in the forces often are aware of the facts, and whilst obviously not going near 'sensitive' information, can still educate the deluded.

I am going to be slated for this, but i dont really give a f@#k....

i have absolutely no idea what the f@#k that "boathouse" joke thing is about. If it is to do with Ronin and getting ambushed with a cup of coffee then cancel my last. :)

The SF forum has always been a bit of lighthearted fun in my opinion. Taking the piss out of walts and mongs who post rubbish and just the fact that nearly every topic degrades into a pissing contest!

Of course! But wannabees with attitude like yours who think they can march in here and trample over the likes of Sneakybeaky are going to get a hard time!

We are quite a sociable bunch on here. We are not no-marks who you happen to meet at a bus stop. Everyone has advice and comments to make on everything.

Play nicely.

Joe Cocker ..... words fail me ..... oh, no, 'tosser' springs to mind.

That's entirely the point of this forum.
To help young people who have a desire to join the military on their way to a fulfilling career in the armed services.
Apart from the odd tosser I think most members here try to help each other whichever service they are looking at.
As"The Old and Bold"It is surely our job to encourage, not denigrate at the first opportunity.
Maybe a"Special Forces"Forum on this side was not so smart :o

The problem is that in order to Get In you have to have served.

Why the animosity Flighty?

Why do people in a nothing thread, in a forum whose subject matter they know NOTHING about manage to get themselves so worked up?

Let's get back to the roots of what this forum was about:

-people who are never going to attempt selection asking questions no-one on here can or is prepared to answer.

-Ex-service personnel attempting to boulster their spurious claims

-Boring attention-seeking moderators using it as a place to bully and abuse power.

Come on people with your help this thread looks like it's on its way there.

We can do this!
