Apart from asking my grandad to sharpen the main blade once or twice its been brilliant.

I used to use it for all sorts as a kid when we where of up trees/playing army now it's used for punching extra holes in belts and getting into those damn plastic case things ear phones and such come in.

Top quality item and last for ever if looked after

Which model do you have if you know it please?
Couldn't say sorry... it's made by Victorinox and has camping on the side (thats probably no use what so ever)

It does how ever have ;

cork screw
short very sharp punch knife
3 inch main blade
saw
1 inch 'pen knife'
bottle opener
flat head screw drive
tweezers
tooth pick
wire striper

Maybe you can find it by that description :-?

Best of luck

I'm thinking of getting the Spartan, the hiker or the camper. Not sure which one yet though.

I like the look of these ones http://www.swisstool.co.uk/st/home.php?cat=256 just because of the handle style and it says they're oversized. I used to have a small swiss army and thought it was a bit weak, but it is funny how useful they can be even in everyday situations.

Did you ever see the two Ronnies sketch where Ronnie Barker builds a whole log cabin in the woods using nothing but a swiss army knife?

I guess his one had a saw.

Yeah but the blade folds into the handle so the blade cant be much shorter then the handle but I duno they should put blade lenght on there.

The blade is probably around 3.5 inches on the ones with the nicer grips, i don't know whether they're going to whip out their rulers and start measuring or what really. To be on the safe side go with a camper or a huntsman or whatever from the 91mm range, they have saws so you can build that log cabin when you get there.

I wouldn't bother buying one if I was you. Usually the first thing the staff do is ask for all knives to be handed in which is usually the last time you see them. The staff also offer to get you a number of items you need, a pen knife is one of them, which they buy in bulk so get a better deal so you're better off just waiting.

That's how it usually works in Para coy anyway, might possibly be different in the other Regiments though.

My recruiter said take what's on the book because they rarely issue you anything and if they do its usually 50th hand.

Sounds like the army needs more funding, and they talk about cutting down on equipment etc? Mr Gordon Brown needs get his act together.
