Hi guys,
I've just got back from ADSC at Lichfield,
I have made the grade for the Parchute Regiment, so far as the physical requirements but have been defferred on my eyesight!
I met the required standard for eyesight but the doctors were unsure whether to pass me or not on the grounds that I have Nystagmus.
For those of you that don't know what that is, it's a slight "shaking" of the pupils, although mine is mild.
The doctors seemed worried that I may suffer from double vision,
although I don't and never have done.
Therefore they have defferrd me and told me that I may or may not have to see a specialist before I can begin phase 1.
Does anyone who is currently serving have Nystagmus?
Can you give me any advice please?
I am pretty sure that this is common and I heard that Nystagmus was acceptable so long as you could pass the required 12/12 for your right eye.
I declared it on my initial medical information sheet and was found medically suitable on the basis of that form.
Anyway they allowed me to continue with the selection process, I bust my balls on the 1.5miler and did a personal best of 8.45 which I was well chuffed with!
I have only managed just over 9 minutes previously so I was a bit apprehensive before the run, I'm glad I didn't have to rely on the wieght/time bonus.
I managed 13 heaves and scored 151.5 on the static lift which I was told was a good score.
I just pray that the docs let me in now!
Cheers Scott
