the 3 miler has a right beasting before you do it so train for this:
example: sprints, then 15 sec bust sprints static. then first half isnt realy done as 12:30 mins it more like 10:00-10:30 for you stop mid way then prepare to do last leg.

basicaly aim for 9 mins 1.5 mile both ways, it 100x harder on PRMC then in training.
You don't get beasted before the run. All you do is a warm up, it's not a beasting. The first leg is mega slow, basically a jog to show you the route, then you leg it back. If you get 9 min then you are laughing, no problem. No hills to speak of, and an almost non existent downhill gradient on the way back.

PRMC is not mega hard. Train hard race easy is what they say, and it's true. Good luck.

I agree with Lillelj, I did the run back in 9.17, I was dissapointed with this and I came in 25th, but easily made the cut. I found the PRMC alot easier than I had read it was going to be, not saying it was easy, but the determination test only lasted 20 mins so as long as you are determined enough, passing isn't that hard. I'm 17 but there was a 32 year old ex-New Zealand Navy guy there who was the top student!!
