PJFT pass but not good enough?
O.K, the PJFT says it has a 10 minute time limit in which the 2.4 km has to be run. Am i right in thinking that if it is run in less than 10 min but more than 9 min 30 sec another fitness test has to be taken?
Anything below 10min is a pass. The gym instructor should tell you what speed you need to run at to pass (14.4kmph, or 9mph)
If you are having a problem with it just stay at 14.4, but I would assume when you get to PRMC someone will have looked at the PJFT time so a good one is always a bonus.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll be alright, pressups I know I wont make tho as no matter how many I do and how hard I train they arent improving they have been at 30ish since November.
Anyway this is for an entirely different thread haha.
Bottom line gleneagles is that 9:59 is a pass, just stick the treadmill on 14.4 and not dip below it and you'll pass mate.
Cheers

God! I'm OWD, Really Owd!
Sorry chaps but I am really! I get the timings wrong, the dates wrong, I, in fact get it all wrong!
All I know is that to be a Royal Marine takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears. I did it, thousands have done it and are indeed still doing it.
But, and it is a big but! At no time it there any more than 6,000 Bootnecks causing nause, 1200 of em play musical instruments ten times better than any Pongo Band can ever hope to get near.
Tis a FAMILY and best of luck to all of you who want to join our family.
To any member of other Brit armed forces reading this thread, this is my message.......TRY HARDER!

In 1981 I was 16 stone in weight and was six foot tall (now five foot ten tall). Went to do a thing called a PULEEMS( you have to do it every 4 years). Tis all to do with basic fitness. Surg Lt Cdr RN told me I was overweight and needed to lose weight.............Offered to take said Surg Lt Cdr on a quick 6 miler over Dartmoor.............Surg Cdr RN Declined. I was passed fit.Mr_Kiwi wrote:Yeah, I'm sure I'll be alright, pressups I know I wont make tho as no matter how many I do and how hard I train they arent improving they have been at 30ish since November.

Funny you mention it, the Navy man (cant recall rank, CIO or something?) that is dealing with my case said I was overweight, as I am 6ft 1, and weighed 90kgs.
I mentioned that BMI (body mass index) is only an accurate way of finding peoples weight who have very little muscle mass, you dont see people saying Jonny Wilkinson should lose some poundage do you? But according to BMI he is overweight, some of the lads count as being clinically obese... He got my message

Very true. According to the BMI I'm verging on clinically obese at 5 ft 10 and 14 st, but my body fat is less than 15%. I only weigh so much because I've been lifting weights for years.Mr_Kiwi wrote:Funny you mention it, the Navy man (cant recall rank, CIO or something?) that is dealing with my case said I was overweight, as I am 6ft 1, and weighed 90kgs.

It's also encouraging to hear that you're stuck at 30 press-ups, because I have been for quite a while now. I can't figure it out because my bench press keeps going up, as do the weights on the tricep exercises that I do, but I'm still sh*t at press-ups!
I'd be inclined to say drop the bench press and so on, and focus on the exercises you do on PRMC, so do pressups to increase your pressup number and so on. I enjoy having a good weight session but I've had to drop that to increase my pressup number as I know when I get to the base in 10 days they couldnt care less how much I can bench or curl.

Bench press + Tricep dips(with weight) divided by a good diet, square root to alot off burpees , times something else( i forgot) = Sh@t loads of pressups
I find its 50% technique and the rest is just endurance. As soon as you wake up every morning do max pressups

The basic fact is that when your yomping with a chacon (Bergen) on your back you do tend to "BULK UP"
The Heavy Weapons blokes would have to carry all their personal kit plus the bloody mortars and base plates plus the mortar rounds. Once came up to an Oppo of mine who was in 42 Support Coy HW Down South who looked like he had two degrees in misery.
"You Ok Pat?"
"FECK OFF STEVE!"
"OK PAT!"
Bollox to yomping with an 81mm Mortar and it's baseplate!!! Mind you saying that. Sigs got a raw deal an all! A41 VHF radio plus two spare batts 56 pounds of extra weight.
As it is I now weigh in at 12 stone and am 5 foot 10 inches tall. Lost a bit of weight & height when me back got buggered. But now I just put it down to owd age.

Personally, I think if someone declares you as overweight using the BMI then they should test you with a VO2 max test.
If you have a good recovery rate, then I can't see the problem.
A good recovery rate = a healthy switched on CV system. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.
But, I'm no medical professional.
