Getting Married While In...
Hey guys,
Me and my fiance are hoping to get married shortly after or during RT.
Apprentally I have to ask my CO's permission or something like that?
Can you confirm if this is true and if so on what grounds they have to say no and what grounds I have to challenge this?
Thanks a lot.
Hellbreather.

Be silly getting married during training mate, you need your head in one place during that.
You could however get married during leave (3 weeks summer being the most oppurtune time) and coming back a kept man!
My advice personally would be wait until you pass out, then you can wear your lid and lovats and look the bollocks

Not sure on the rules about asking for the CO's permission etc. But if you were going to get married, either do it before or after RT, don't do it in the middle. If you do it before RT and the pass out you'll be able to apply for married quarters (I think) straight away.
I think getting ready for a wedding halfway through RT will take some of your focus away from passing.

If you love each other then she should have no objections to you hacking training and then tieing the knot once your out in the big world wearing that Green Lid in a unit. Plus you will be earning more dosh as well.

Cheers for all the advice guys I think I worded it wrong by saying during RT.
The only reason I asked about CO's permission, is I just didn't to pass out and then be told that I'm not allowed. (For whatever reason that may be?)
Could I speak to my AFCO about it?
Or ask at the PRMC?
Or will they just tell me to crack on and not worry about it

I knew guys who married "Maltese" Princesses, Thai ladies, any ladies for that matter. One guy got hitched to an East German lady whom he met whilst competing in the winter Olympics at Lake Placid in I think 1980.
She had a better tach than he did! No she was a goodun really did the luge dobbery and won a silver medal before doing a runner from her minders and marrying him. He was in the GB Biathlon team. Sparkwood/Spotiswood or summut like it was his surname.
I never asked permission to get wed nor did any of my Oppos we just did it and that was it. My only advice is get hitched after training, not before or during it as you will have enough on your plate hacking training without the worry of your better half being able to cope on your pay as a recruit. Cancel my last however if your lady is earning a good living mind.

I got married/ got told I was getting married while I was over in Northern Ireland. I seemed to rember asking the CO at the time, it was just a formality, I don't really see the point as he just an OK fella, and nothing else was said or done about it. It did get me out of Ireland before the end of the tour though! (Profs and dips, dip being married). Most Bootnecks end up getting married a few times, it can be a strain at times, (not always compatible, which includes this call sign!)
