Baby on the way!

Post by bulldog9 »

Hi there.

As you can see I'm in the process of joining the Royal Marines, found out yesterday my fiance is pregnant.

Now I'm hopefully gonna be starting RT early next year if everything goes to plan.

Just want to know everyones views and what they would do in my situation?

Any views and help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Mate,

I recently went through this
Beautiful baby girl just so you know :P

I took at least 6 months of from the pregnancy and then some of her life, now I have carried on with my application (Turns out Im deferred for 6 months lol).

Only you and your fiance can work out the answer, my fiance asked me to wait until at least my daughter was born and I did, now she's more than happy to support me through my application and RT.

Advice: Have a sit down chat with your fiance and talk over what you both want. Thats the only way to find out what you should really do :D

Congratulations and hope it all goes well mate :)

I sat down with her and she said she wants me to still go and carry on with my process.

But is it right of me to just leave her like this?

Congratulations!! As for your question, I don't think anyone can answer that one for you mate. Only you know, and I'm sure you'll make the right decision  .

Maybe a slight delay is in order?

Yes you are probably correct.

Worked so hard to get in Marines, just dont want it to dwindle away.

I know in my heart and mind i want to be a Royal Marines Commando.

To be honest if she says she will wait for you and will stand by you then do you what you want to do.

Being a Royal Marine is something Ive wanted to do for years and if my fiance says she will support then Im going to go for it.

If its what you want to do then you've gotta do it mate, or else you will spend your life thinking "What if.." it wont dwindle if you want as much as you say you do mate.

Maybe just delay your app until the baby is born then see how you feel.

Uhh oh. :P

Well just in my opinion, the baby comes first now. That's the No.1 priority isn't it so you have to do what's best for it.

Take care.

To be honest, I don't know the answer to that. I think thats something you would have to discuss with your AFCO.

I'm not completely sure, but I believe you can. PRMC passes last a year, and I'm sure if you explain the situation they may be able to help you out.

Sorry mate, I'm not sure I could say alot on the matter. If I were to make a decision, despite my own ambitions, I would always put my fiance and child first. They're the biggest responsibilities.

I think you really need to sit down with your fiance and have a good long talk about the future.

Hope that was of some help.

All the best.

Like AJ has said mate you need to sit down and sort it out with your fiance.

And Like I've said in the same suituation as you I took 5/6 months out to just get used to having a little one around and now Im ready to go (once my deferment is up)

Do what you feel is right and in the end Im sure it will work for you mate.
