Well theyve released a book based on the Tv series and it seems quite good. Also there are pictures inside what show the few remainders who pass out of the original 924 Troop.
What do you have to do in the gym pass out, excluding doing the ropes?
I don't think it shows how hard it is either, im constantly trying to stress to my mates how hard it actually is to even get into RT because the program makes it look like a laugh with a bit of hard work every now and then.

I got the Commando book that goes along with the series this afternoon and i highly recommend it to anyone who has been watching the tv show.
Im already half way through it, i cannot put it down.
I was shocked that out of the 50 that begins there are so little remaining. You see the picture in the book of the troop photograph and then you see it again but this time Lt Orlando Rogers has black all the recruits who havent made it.

dont forget some will have been back trooped and put into hunter company etc etc, but yes it still is an eye openerrm1664 wrote:

It seems that the average new intake is around 50 strong?
This Friday 937 pass out as Kings Squad, with as I understand it only 12 original members left .
Interestingly 936 were amalgamated with 937 and I believe only 8
of that original squad are left.
Some people leave at their own request, some as they do not reach the standard required. That is life.
Others are unfortunate to leave due to injury. Some perhaps to return at a later date.
Others due to injury go to Hunter, where hopefully on recovery they will rejoin training with another troop.
Others having failed some part of training are back-trooped. But at least they are given the chance to continue and complete training with another troop at a later date.
Nobody says it is easy, but at the end you have earned your Green Beret.
Only those that have been through the joys of time spent at sunny "Lympvitse", as I understand it is at times called, understand what it means.

Yes thanks a lot for that mate its reassured me a bit!
Apparently Final Exercise you will have to pass aswell. About week 26 i think, im not sure though. But it basically tests everything you have learnt, from yomping for hours on end to assaults.

The last 4 Commando tests are the 30 Miler across dartmoor. The 9 Mile Speed March, Tarzan Assault Course, and the Endurance Course. Endurance course is the run through the obstacle course where they put you under the tunnels and so fourth. Once you go through all that, you run 3 - 4 miles back to camp, and have to hit I think 6 out of 10 targets at the end on the firing range to pass.
There are a few gym pass outs through the 32 weeks. If you fail them, they put you back a few weeks to get better and then attempt them again. They also have there own BMA, battle fitness assessments that you need to pass as well, which I assume are just grueling marches.
