Few questions, please help!

Post by bulldog9 »

Hi, new here, currently going through the process of applying for the marines.

My situation is i am engaged and have 2 step children we all live together.

I have told her of my dream to join the Royal Marines and she is all behind me. She says she would follow me anywhere.

My question is how does life work with regards to having a family once basic training has finished, we are hoping to be married soon so would live together wherever i go.
I know im jumping ahead alot but i want this all clearing up before it comes up later.

What are the prices of living for rented MQ? Any women on here to tell my fiance anything?

Everybodys help would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance

Regards
Liam

good on you mate for folowing your dream. and its good your fiancie is behind you. i start RT in 4 weeks, cant wait, after training (8 months) not 100% but from what ive read and heard. youll be able to see your children and future wife every night. unless your on an oporation or deployed somwhere. plus having a family in the forces has loads of benefits. plus you can rent flats and houses for your family at a much less rate than normal. ring your nearest AFCO and speak to then about life in th Royal Marines. oh and aswell when i did my PRMC i noticed alot of men were married!

good luck mate. here from you soon
got to Week 7 and left :(

hi mate i hav a wife in the RAF.

the services are all coming into line in almost all areas we pay roughly £250 a month for a three bed semi, that includes council tax and water bills.

we were engaged for 18 months and had to find our own accomodation before we were married.

my guess is that she and the kids will have to find and stay in their own digs until u are married then after a MQ is yours.

good luk dude

The prices sound very good, a lot cheaper than what we are paying now.

Thanks for your reply.

Any more replies would be greatly appreciated. Things to encourage my missus would help a lot too.

Just simple things to put her mind at ease.

We pay about 200 quid for the patch we are on thats a three bedroom. I already had one kid before i joined the Corps and the Mrs had the 2nd whilst i was in training. It was good to move away from my village and start some where else, your Mrs would make friends quickly espeacialy on a patch (not always a good thing) we try and distance ourselves from the neighbours these days. As there have been some arse holes with out getting in to the dits.

It can be difficult at times your Mrs will have to deal with everything by herself when your away. I took a drop in pay as well when i started training which is some thing else to bear in mind, i never had any money in training as it all went to the Mrs and kids, paying food and accomadation on camp as well as running a home dosnt leave you mauch on a recruits wage. The young single lads were always pissing up and buying Gucci kit i used to make do with Pussers kit and keep my spending down to a minimum. So keep that in mind as well.
