in reply to whoever asked about why its done on a tread mill i would say its for the obvious things like 'the distance is exact almost exact'
'the instructor doesnt have to leave run along'
'you cant blame the results on weather/traffic/hot chick crossing the road in revealing clothing and so on'
'less likely you will get an injury on a treadmill but if they took you on a route and you injured yourself some might try and blame the amred forces.'
and im sure theres others. this way its simple, even though i hate treadmills.

It's probably just to show that you have a basic level of fitness.bigdog wrote:I dont know why they bother with the pjft though, it does not show any kind of decent level of fitness or determination it just seems to be a bit of a waste of time.

My guess is that it also saves money, if they just sent you too prmc they've got to pay for the train ticket, feed you, clothe you, give you a bed, pay the staff, etc, and in the end they could just have a bunch of people turn up who aren't fit enough to do it.AJtothemax wrote:It's probably just to show that you have a basic level of fitness.bigdog wrote:I dont know why they bother with the pjft though, it does not show any kind of decent level of fitness or determination it just seems to be a bit of a waste of time.

Also everyone gets a level playing field. Would be much harder for us Northern lads if it were done outdoorsThe reason its on a treadmill is because if you did it on a road you would need a clear route, a couple of pti's, markers and it has to be health and safety cleard and all sorts of stuff. treadmill is alot easier.
