Hi there,
Im currently in the Royal Navy working in Minewarfare and have been for the last 18 months (onboard HMS Brocklesby). Im finding it hard to keep any enthusiasm for the job as quite frankly we never get to do our job.
This isnt intended to be a drip post so i'l cut to the point!
I have been considering transfering to the Army and would be intrested to know if anyone has any experience of this. Either has it been done/can it be done. Could I keep any seniority (pay and time towards my pention etc). I intend to talk to someone back in Portsmouth after summer leave but would be intrested if anyone had any input in the mean time.
Regards stew.

Sailor to soldier?
There was somebody on my PRMC who had transfered from the army, he said they say you can't do it but you can, somehow.
Not being mean or anything marine101 but he said army, if he is in the navy I am sure he would have concidered the marines.
I am using this as a example and maybe a bad one but if an officer transfered to the army from the navy I doubt they would make him a recruit again so I am sure (I am guessing but it's a very sure guess) that you will keep your seniority although the pay may change depending on your rank etc. but then it might stay the same.
How long is a piece of string you know, only when you get a ruler will you find out and by string I mean your question and by ruler I mean somebody who knows.
I'm going to be a great philosopher when I grow up, just like those american singers who copy saying from other people and then write it at the end of their music videos as their own by putting their name under it.
