REME Fitness requirments

Post by John Fav »

Hi,
I was wondering about the fitness requirements to join REME as an aircraft technichian. I have been thinking about this for a while now.
A few months back I was a bit of a fat bloke but decided I would train hard. So I started to do general CV training and weight training. So far I have gotten my 1.5mile run time down to about 12.30mins. I can do about 40 pushups and about 50situps. Also I have lost about 2 and a half stone. But I'm not sure what the fitness tests will be and any advice would be great.

Also does anyone have any advice about training?. At the moment I'm doing running 4/5 times a week (about 1.5 miles) and weight training 3 times a week for general strength. Should I be looking at specific exercises like chinups?. I'm 18 years old, does that affect the fitness requirements at all?.

Cheers

The general fitness requirements for a REME technician is a 10:30 mile and a half 44 push ups and 50 sit ups. I think there is some margin for error when it comes to recruit selection, but I'm not sure.

As for getting your time down, you should try interval training to increase the speed at which you are running. And try doing push ups and sit ups every day, you'll soon notice the difference.

Good Luck!!

Hi mate, I don't think the REME is that bad just aim for a good level of ftiness, some longer runs but also some sprint training. I would not bother with too many chin ups do some weight training at lower level and some circuit training would not go amiss as you will have to push yourself a bit  Also use the "search" button there is loads of information on this site.

You need to be able to nip to the shop to get this weeks issue of Nuts and be back in time for your Pot Noodle to be at the optimum consumption temperature.
