Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm about to start work as an ecology research assistant on placement from university, and I'm also a wannabe IntO in the RAF. I applied for Fighter Control in 2005 and was rejected at OASC for basically making a royal balls up of the interview. Since then I've gone to university, run a uni sports clubs, I'm off travelling round the USA for two months in a weeks time and just generally been trying to correct all the things I was lacking first time round.

In the course of doing all this I have decided that IntO is more my sort of thing than Fighter Control, so I have just started the selection process again. I'll be going into the AFCO this week to get the whole painful thing in motion for when I get back from the US.

Anyway its good to be here and I look forward to incessantly asking questions as I go through selection.

Cheers for the welcome guys.

I don't know which board to put this query on so I thought I'd just add it here. I was thinking of trying to join one of the reserve forces while I finish my degree to get a bit of experience in the military before I (hopefully!) start training. Only problem is there isn't really an RAuxAF outfit near where I'll be working next year. Would it be a good idea to join the RNR or the TA even though I'm hoping to eventually join the RAF?

Maybe if you told us where you will be working next year someone may be able to assist you in your quest.

Definitely just explain to them there was no RAuxAF force near you but you still wanted to gain military experience it'll look good regardless.
