I don't know how to put this
I think mate its partly because you havn't had a job in a long while. Get a job labouring (good for fitness) or anything there are jobs out there just you don't want to do them. It will give you some money and sort your head out. Being in a work environment with people all day does help your state of mind. If it was me I would tell my parents the truth, that the army was going to be a substitute and that I need to get back on track, that I'm going to get a job and go for it.
If you have done it once you can get back to that place and do it.
Not having a job because you want to concentrate on training is bullshit. Your only gonno work 8-9 hours a day. So just do that in the mean time then follow the RM path.

Stinky, someone once told me in life you should always be aiming one step beyond what you are trying to achieve, that way you are motivated to give it your best for the goal you are currently working on.
Basically, instead of thinking " I want to be a marine so I've got to run" when you are out running, think about "I want to be a mountian leader" or "I'm training for the SBS". Obviously don't tell people that because they'll think you're a tool - but seriously, to motivate yourself through a phase, think about the end goal and pick somehting that inspires you. Because when your cold we tired and hungry, that thing will make you spur yourself on and get it together mentally.
Also, when you are out running, pick your head up, smile to yourself and mentally say "I am enjoying this!" " I Fing love running - b*gger the marines - i'm running anyway because I enjoy it!" You need to get out of the mental way of it being a chore. Sure get yourself off the couch and into your trainers by mentally beasting yourself a bit or thinking about how you're going to kick some ass when you finally get deployed, but ease up on yourself a bit once you're doing it. If you can open up to the experience of training and make it enjoyable in its' own right you will be a winner.
PS just getting out and doing some, even a little, makes a huge difference. Take the pressure off and find a little light and enjoyment and I think you'l be fine.

Rocky Balboa is a shit film.
How old is he? 60?? And he's fighting the undefeated heavy weight champion...
He got brain damage from Rocky 4 FFS... And why would a man with arthritis and calcium deposits be lifting heavy weights??
Why won't he keep his hands up? You don't block with your face, do you? They even had Mike Tyson ringside and they didn't even think to say "hey Mike, how can we make this look like an actual boxing match?"
DAMN. They should have stopped after the fourth.
60 year old man with brain damage and arthritis going the distance... f@#k OFF.
Well that's my rant over. Back on point... Come on Stinky, stick with it etc

Polynikes, if you viewed every film with that (realistic, I grant you) scepticism you'd hate 90% of them, superman, 300, etc. The idea of films like this is that the feat is undoable, otherwise it wouldn't be in any way inspiring. Obviously it could never happen, but if it was doable and everyday why would they make a movie of it; and besides, Rocky V was awful, I would have hated for it to be over on that note.
Stinky, get some rocky tunes on your mp3 player when you go out running, works a treat

Stinky, have a break, take some time doing and thinking about other things.
Determination and focus are essential, but if you've had a struggle and have not made any progress then a break may be what you need.
It could refresh your body and spirit and you'll come back either feeling ready to crack on, or have some clear-headed ideas about what else you'd like to do.

Nowt wrong with the army -- far from it! -- but don't approach it as a 'second best'!

Agreed. It's just I felt ripped off... They should have left it after the fourth. Rocky beats Drago (Sp?) the perfect human specimen etc. and changes the world for the better with the Americans and Russians all getting along.SNiDE wrote:Polynikes, if you viewed every film with that (realistic, I grant you) scepticism you'd hate 90% of them, superman, 300, etc. The idea of films like this is that the feat is undoable, otherwise it wouldn't be in any way inspiring. It's just flogging a dead horse.
My apologies if I came across as a pessimistic, miserable c@#t. I do actually enjoy 1 - 4...
Roll off...?
