Corps of Army Music - anyone know the 1.5 mile time?

Post by Eliza1001 »

I'm a 29 year old female hoping to join the Corps of Army Music.
Does anyone know what I need to aim for in the 1.5 mile run?
I have lost 4 stone in the last couple of years, and am now a health 10stone 4 lbs and 5 foot 9, but am really struggling with the running.
I have always been sporty but never good at running - I get so out of breath. To begin with I had trouble running 1.5 miles in 18 minutes, I am now down to 16 minutes. I had heard the target in my situation is 14 minutes, but at the AFCO they said 12.
Hope someone can help

well if your AFCO say 12 i would go with that, the only way to improve your running time eliza is to keep running, so run run run, you already got your time down by 2 mins which is great so keep pushing, just remember to wear proper footwear and have rest days to help prevent injury(i speak from experience), good luck.

Hi Eliza,
It is definetly 14 mins, this is a maximum though.
The afco is probably telling you 12 to make sure you have prepared and so easily make this maximum time.
According to the army website all corps are 14 mins.
Best of luck.
