1.5 mile

Post by Alex Himself »

hi, just wondering what times you lot get for doing the 1.5 mile run, if you do it that is.

mine was 10mins 30 secs. i have just started measuring/timing myself today to get a rough idea. my basic starts on 30th nov, so this once a day should be ok.

Don't run 1.5m all out every day, you'd be better off bulding steady mileage and doing one or two speed workouts a week, then testing yourself once or twice a week.

At RTS the 1.5 mile run is done quite early, as a `streaming run`, and they arrange you into running groups, normally three. The top group with the fitter guys/gals in will do longer runs than the other two groups. Try and get in the top ten on this.

Story from an old USAF retired sergeant. My First Sergeant made me do the 1.5 mile test the month before I was to retire. He was ticked at me for wanting to retire I reckon. LOL.... He did not know that I was running 3 miles before each meal every day of the week. I did the run in 8.5 without pushing it and I was only 39 at the time. There were two kids that flew by me though as if I were standing still. Now, at 53, I can merely flashback to those days. Going shopping tires me out now.

Thanks for letting me post here friends. 8)

I shall now go to the "sister" site where I wish to review the PTSD forum. Take care one and all. Best Wishes from the U.S. 8)

IF on tredmill try to do it on setting 13KM/h. On road/paths/alleys whatever aim for 9-10mins to the 2.4KM/h (1.5miles)

Oh god, I'm not much good at running, do you really have to do a 1.5 mile run in under 10 mins? :(
