Andy O'Pray wrote:Marina is correct in her view of the Middle East problems. America's biased support of Israel against the Palestinians does not lend to any sort of trust in the USA within the Middle East.

Radicals do not only exist within the Muslim faith. Does Northern Ireland ring a bell. The religious right in the USA, who try to enforce their views on everyone else. The ironical thing is that those who use religion for their cause are usually the most unreligious people around.

As for terrorism. Ask the guys who served in Palestine, some are on this site, who the terrorists were. It was not the Arabs. I choke everytime I hear the Israeli government denouncing terrorism and their fight against it. Talk about the kettle calling the pot black springs to mind.

Aye - Andy.
that is so true, how many people know of the Jewish terror groups such as the Stern Gang and Irgun? they killed dozens of British troops in bombing and shootings, not to mention hanging 2 young lads from a tree  the same soldiers fresh from fighting the Nazis in WW2. theres gratitude for u.

and the leaders of those 2 groups, Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir went on to found the Likud Party and become PMs!

and now the same bastards and their mates come on TV and swear never to surrender to terrorism  well what goes around comes round eh?

scumbags deserve everything they get.

There is a sizeable, very rich and very influential lobby group of Jews within the US.

I hope that you don't have too much of a hangover in the morning May.

The Holy Qua''ran is the recieved word from God (Allah), as spoken to the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him ), in his dreams and requires 'translating', to obtain the significance behind the words.

Cenuries of muslim clerics have devoted their lives to this undertaking.

Unfortunately they have all been men and each has given his own 'spin' to the Book and the accompanying 'Traditions'. Thus 'muslim women should cover their head when going to the market', becomes covered from head to toe, including black gloves and a mask in Saudi Arabia.

Also the authorities really should know that dogs, even 'sniffer' dogs are classed as 'haram' or unclean and in the same class as pigs, before letting them loose in an arabs house.

The authorities should give more guidance to the squaddy on the ground about how to deal with the locals.

For instance you can not asl about a mans wife, but ask 'how is the familly' etc etc

Small points perhaps, but the place is awash with bad tempered people all armed to the teeth with small arms.

Andy,

Excellent ! You have hit the nail on the head about the US jewish lobby and Israel's double standards.

AlsoI absolutely agree with you about the irony in religion.

I cannot understand people like Benazir Bhutto, (who is partial to the odd glasss of whiskey) who wears a headscarf for political reasons rather than religious conviction to appease the religious groups. Then, she goes on her mini-pilgrimage to Mecca, and makes sure she has media coverage to show how devout she is. She then joins forces with these religious groups to discredit Gen. Musharraf. I am thinking, huh! These are the very same people who didn't want her to be prime minister in the first place. :o

Chunky,
In the study of Islam, there are 4 schools of thought based on interpretation by some Islamic scholars with varying degrees moderation and conservative point of view.
The Saudi brand of islam is one of the most conservative types.
I will get back onto this one as I have to go and meet my friend
