First of all Hi. I have recently done a PRMC for the Royal Marines and did not pass. More and more recently I have been looking to join the RAF. I dont quite know how the selection process would work with me as I have had a medical for the marines? Could I join the RAF? Also id like some more information on the training that is done.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

A bit of info needed
Assuming you didn’t fail your PRMC because of anything medical there’s no reason why you Could not join the RAF mate, I wouldn’t be sure but I would imagine you would have to do another medical for the RAF or perhaps they can just transfer your papers across?
Best thing to do mate is to check out http://www.rafcareers.com at least there you are guaranteed up to date info on the recruitment selection from an official stance.
Chatting and reading posts here helps give you an insight to what it’s really like though.
To very basically answer your question about the selection process, if you are not going for officer or Aircrew as that differs slightly the main stages are as follows, Visit an Royal Air Force AFCO have a chat with them and ask all the questions you can think off so you are in no doubt about what you are getting in too, then apply and get yourself booked in for the AST (Airmen’s selection test) Really hammer through the example booklet and get use to working against the clock, the AST it isn’t as easy as you think. Then following that you get your scores and told what jobs you can apply for, at this stage you can then officially apply for a job.
You sit a formal Interview and if successful at this you go and get a medical plus complete the PJFT which is 1.5 miles on a treadmill under 12mins.
Hope this helps buddy, im sure you went through similar stages with the RM’s and no doubt you have been doing/done quite a bit of training before your PRMC so the 1.5 should be no bother to you.
There is a lot of people on here that could give you a better answer but I thought id give it a go.
Good luck

It's highly likely that the RAF recruiters would have access to the results of your PRMC application. Be open and honest about what happened during that application and why you weren't successful. As RAF and RM standards differ in many areas, you should not think that failure in one application will automatically lead to failure in another.
The best option is to go and talk to the RAF recruiters at your AFCO. Only they can answer your question....and the worst they can say is "no".

Fro any updates? Just remember Life seems to be more comfortable in the RAF than the bootnecks if the reports from my mate who recently passed out and is now with 45cdo are anything to go by, so don’t knock the blues!
As much as a little RAF enthusiast I have become, I agree with Mark. If the RM’s is something you really want then don’t give in, have another crack at the PRMC. Least then you wont have any doubts weather you could of got in 2nd time round
Best of luck mate!!

honestly i went full out 12km/h, this exacted for me 12mins 07seconds. Leaving me plenty of energy to do a full days of gym in the gym that i was in. All in all i passed with 5 seconds to spare to do the rocky run.hitman1716 wrote:Hi, bit off topici was just wondering, what speed to put the tredmill at if your pjft in under 12 mins on a tredmill. Im sure i saw something on this site before about what speed to set it for for a set time. couldnt find it using the search button. Thanks in advance
