the assault course

Post by roger that »

can anyone list the obstacles on the bottom field assault course? i think it goes water trap, 5 ft wall, railings, scramble net, monkey bars, ropes, zig zag wall, wobble bridge, 6 ft wall, more railings, underground tunnels, then wall with steps on the other side. if anyone can definately name each part or give me a link to somewhere that can, id very much appreciate it.
p.s i did do a search prior

5 and 6ft walls are the other way round (IE. 6ft wall is first after the tank trap) and the chasm (rope crossing is after the zig zag wall but otherwise that's everything.
Also, the first set of railings you kid of run over and the second set you vault over.

Have a look down the page on this RM forum and you should see a thread relating to a Blue Peter PRMC. Part of the video has the assault course on it.

Incidentally, does anyone have any idea which of the 3 tunnels is the shortest?

The tunnel on the right is the shortest, and they get longer from right to left.

No, the one on the right just feels shorter cos you run slightly downhill to get to it, leaving you feeling fresher

PTI caught one lad stopping for a quick breather in the tunnels. He won't forget the following week in a hurry

10min 13s I think, but I fell off the first rope on my tests  Had to climb all the bloody way up the net rather than swinging into it most of the way up. Still don't know how I managed it

Good effort, I did it the other day, fell off one of the obstacles and completed it 4 seconds over the time, so should be ok on the day. What about endurance??

Just over 60 mins.

Don't worry about being over the times now, the first time we did them we were nearly all told we'd failed, in some cases by quite a lot (think I got told 14min30s Tarzan or something). Not sure if that was PTI reverse psychology or what, but by the time the tests ticked round no problems. Cos I was Huntered on my tests first time round, the second time I actually did cheeky Wed, Tarzan on Fri, then joined new troop and started tests on Sat, so did 7 tests in 7 days
