Maybe a silly question..... but is the pace of the treadmill controlled by the instructor or by the person running?

When I went the instructor told me to keep it at at least 15kph to pass, and that I could change the speed whenever I felt.

What's the time for the PJFT? I thought it was 10:30, but if that's the case the minimum speed is about 13.5 km/h, not 15. :-?

Bit of a hi-jack here. Time has been reduced to 10 mins deffo. Have my PJFT on tuesday but haven't ran it on a treadmill in agesssssss. What sort of speed do you need to have it on to pass, with time to spare?

Tried a treadmill once. All was going swimmingly. Then the electricity supply was suddenly cut off........Not nice.

Somehow I managed to get my left knacker caught on the bar you hold on to whilst I was in the process of flying over it towards the plate glass window just in front of the thing.

I span round that damn bar three times and ended up singing soprano for the Plymouth Choral Society for three entire months until the Surgeon Commander at RNH Stonehouse finally managed to massage me knacker back down again from just above my left ear.

During my time with the Choir a very, very nice man kept asking if it was alright for him to take me home after each performance. I saved a bomb on bus fares!!! :D

So now you know why I don't like them very much.

Heres a rather unique way of utilising some treadmills.

I remember when I was training for this and my left foot kind of went to far over and ended up on the side which sent my right foot and the rest of my body flying about 2 foot behind the tredmil! My mate thought it was funny anyway, and in my defence I was watching some girls ass infront of me on another tredmil, so my mind was not fully on the task.

its under 10 mins now, my recuiritng officer told me to get under 10 or he would not send me on the prmc. i was allowded to control the pace i ran at, but was recommend to run between 15-16km/h which should stand you in good stead for a respectable time. and i would advise anyone who hasnt ran on a tredmill before to do so, i found it really hard compared to running on open countryside which i can do at a much faster pace

I did it when the required time was 10:45, I don't know why the bloke told me 15kph though.

I ran at 15 for 9.5 mins and gt 2.34km which is about 100m under the 1.5 miles so 15-16 should be fine.

havent touched a treadmill in ages.. but the other day did the maximum speed possible and got 1.5miles in 9.13.

you only need to get minimum level 14.5(km/hour for 1.5miles) to pass.

get out there and hammer it.

Mitch 2400m is 1.5 miles. You were 60m off of your target.

For people who are crap on treadmills like myself (1.5 miles on roads in 9 mins) here's a little easier run to help achieve your target.

Just to add the treadmill takes 30 seconds to reach 14.5 km/h then if you run until 5 mins has passed, crank up to 15km/h until 7 mins has passed then crank it up again to 16km/h for the remainder you'll do it in around 9:50 which helped my confidence when i was training for pjft.
