Pay in Basic Training

Post by veni vidi vici »

Hi, just wondering what is the pay like for phase 1 and phase 2. I have been given some information by someone who joined rwf about 5 years ago who said that at week 6 when he went home he had only £200 after all kit charges and accomodation and food and miscellaneous other fee's is this correct and could someone give me a quick run down of how it all works and the rates of pay in training?

Do you have to pay for all the kit? I knew you had to pay for accomodation and food but didnt know about. If you pay do you keep it when you leave.

You have to buy some kit, and you will buy stuff to make yourself more comfortable. You get issued the basics.

The army hold back a lot of your wages until you start to get bank paid, you're basically given about £100 ever 2 weeks, slightly more when you have your long weekend at week 6, which is why your mate would have got £200. This isn't all he had left after deductions it's just the amount the army decided to issue him with. He would have got all moneys owed to him once he started getting bank paid around week 8 I think it is.

What i seem to have been told is that you get £50 a week or less if you say that you don't want that much (£200 every two weeks figures), but is it really true that you don't get the rest of the money through until the 8weeks? (Am i right in thinking it's about £200 per week after deductions?)

Seems a bit strange not having it for the long weekend, or is it so that you can't blow your newly earned cash in 5mins down the local casino?!

It takes the guys/gals up in Glasgow quite a while for some reason to process your salary.

It took them 3 months to pay me when i joined the TA a few years ago. Although the Iraq conflict was just starting which might have had something to do with it
