INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley

I've got this printed out on the wall of my bedroom next to my training schedule, so when I wake up I know what I'm training and I have the motivation to give it my best. :D Also good to repeat a few lines in your head when it starts to hurt :D

Inspiration! Read Lance Armstrongs book : It's Not About The Bike, My Journey Back To Life......If that doesnt inspire you I'm not sure what will, testicular cancer spreading to his lungs and then to his brain yet he managed to overcome it all and win everything he has done is inspiration if you ask me.....Just shows that you can go beyond limits, he refused to let it beat him....and like that adidas advert says.....Impossible is nothing.......Impossible is not a fact, its a statement! If what this legend went through doesnt prove that things can be done if you set your mind to it then I'de love to hear what does!
Never Quit-Quitting is for those who are not serious about achieveing their goals.

Mirror Mirror on the wall,
Who's the fairest of them all?

You are sigs without a doubt,
Thank you mirror, rodger out!

Then there is this little ditty from Mr Spike Milligan, R.I.P.

Said the General of the Army,
I think that was is barmy,
So he laid down his gun,
And is having much much more fun!

Here is another one from the mists of time.

Marines are like Mushrooms,
They are fed on shit and kept in the dark!

That last ditty was a favorite saying in the Corp during the seventies when all was not well with the men in some dump where the chance of a runashore was nil and the chance of finding out what was going on was nil an all!

Are the men happy Sgt/Major?
Yes Sar!
Then shoot two and charge the rest Sgt/Major!

This used to make oie laff!

Will the men follow me Sgt/Major?
Oh yes Sar!
Really Sgt/Major?
Oh yes Sar! They would follow you anywhere out of sheer morbid curiosity just to see what happens next Sar!
