Hello everybody, just a couple of questions
How long does the selection process take? For example if I applied this week, when could i expect to be called for service?
Is there a RAF version of the Royal Marine PRMC? I also assume there's an
interview, do they ask real tough questions about RAF history and stuff? I was crap at history in school.
Thanks

RAF Selection
I read somewhere that members of the RAF can joins the SAS. Is that
correct? Is that the entire RAF or just the RAF regiment?
Like, could someone take a Chef's job and then sign up for special forces?

Re: Length of Selection Process
It varies very much depending on your situation and the trade you apply for.shishak wrote: How long does the selection process take? For example if I applied this week, when could i expect to be called for service?
For example I was required to visit my opticians 3 times, this added a few weeks.
Some people can be in as soon as 5-6months, I have taken around 1 year.
The best advice I would say is always make sure you have prepared everything before each stage of your application. Say when you are called in for a test make sure you have all the requested documents so you don't have to cancel when you get there and reschedule another date.
As for royal marines.... the regiment?

Re: Length of Selection Process
From my personal experience I first applied in November 2006 and my provisional date is 16th May 2007. I know someone who only applied at the start of March 2007 and also has the 16th May as his provisional date. It really does vary mate.shishak wrote:Hello everybody, just a couple of questions

The speed of the application varies as mentioned. Faster you book things in, faster you get them done. Simple as that!
Keep nagging them
, I WANT MY "so and so test" etc etc...

The length of the selection process depends not only on how quickly you complete each stage of the process but also on the start dates of courses that you will undertake. Expecially your basic trade training (after recruit training). The aim is for you to start this training as soon as possible after your recruit training , rather than being put on ADF holding for your course to start...
As for SAS service....Any branch or trade in the RAF can apply for selection to serve in the SAS.
