Dead Man's Shoes

Post by digitalfreefall »

As mentioned in another thread Dead Man's Shoes is one of my favorite films and IMO the best British film of the last decade.

It follows Richard a Ex paratrooper as he return home to the small town he grew up in to exact revenge on the gang who abused his younger brother.

I dont want to give too much away but you have to see this film, it really got under my skin.

The entire cast put in amazing performances but Paddy Considine and Toby Kebbell really stand out as the two brothers.

Just wait for the scene where Richard and Sonny (the gang leader) meet for the first time.

That is pure quality. The ending is just magic, the way they f***ed with that kid, it was like they were truly loving it.

Dead Man's Shoes blew me away the first time I watched it I recommend it to anyone who will listen.

If you have the DVD sandy you should listen to the Directors commentry, Shane Meadows goes into alot of detail about where the story came from.

Meadows and Considine are a good team its a shame the latter isnt involved in This is England as hes a great actor.

If anyone reading this hasnt seen DMS then go buy it, now.

I agree that this is a top quality film. Loved the way a lot of it was obviously unscripted, just natural banter giving it a much more watchable feeling.
Good story line, good acting, definately worth a watch.

Good film, liked it.

Revenge on people who deserve it.

I recommend 'Outlaw' with Sean Bean, Bob Hoskins and Danny Dyer as well people, thats not bad either.
