My dad is buying one, and i'm wondering wether its worth putting into my program (seen in peoples training programs)
Or are these mahines not worth the effort for me.
Any comments or ideas welcome and appriciated

Fantastic CV workout, works all the major muscle groups, and is non-impact. I would definately put it into your workout, even if its just a 10 min hard session 2 or 3 times per week.

Try covering 5000+ meters in less than 20min on the rower a few times a week, its a killer !

Huzzah, best 5k time is 19:38.4!

I'm a rower myself and let me tell you, the lactic acid endurance (anaerobic?? endurance) you build up on an ergo meter is second to none. They are the devil incarnate. If you have access to one and are looking for some great exercises, PM me and I'll set you straight.

Also, BE CAREFUL, incorrect form on an ergo meter will seriously injure your back. When you pivot on the seat during the stroke, pivot from your hips and not your lower back. And also, pull the handle to your sternum. Dont rock back more than 15-20 degrees on the finish and dont rock your body forwards more than that going up the slide. And most vitally, on the ergo meter going forwards its Hands Out, Body rocks forwards, Slide moves forwards. HANDS,BODY,SLIDE.

A rowing stroke should start with a drive with the legs and as the legs can go no more down, rock back with the body and pull the handle to your sternum. Your wrists should be flat the whole time and parrellel to the ground. Keep your arms moving in a straight line.

I think that covers as much of the basics as I can. Hope it helps.
